Give your apps a privacy check-up

A small clean-up can reduce what you share and simplify your phone.

Start with what you use

Review your installed apps and remove ones you no longer need. Check whether an unused service also holds an account or subscription; uninstalling an app does not necessarily delete either.

Review access

Look at permissions for location, microphone, camera and contacts. Ask whether each permission is necessary for the feature you use. Where your device offers a choice, consider allowing access only while you use the app.

Keep a simple routine

Review permissions when you install a new app and after major changes. Keep the apps you use updated. Be cautious about unfamiliar downloads and requests to disable your device’s protections.
